Barbara Budrich

In 1993 she started working as an editor with Leske + Budrich, her father’s publishing company. 2004 she set up her first own company, Verlag Barbara Budrich, followed in 2007 by what was later to become Barbara Budrich Academic Press. In 2008 she founded what was in 2012 to become budrich training.

She has authored many books and articles on academic writing and publishing, and is often invited as panelist or keynote speaker on these and entrepreneurial topics. She has received a number of awards and has been a “role model female entrepreneur” for the Federal Ministry of Economics and Energy of Germany since 2015.

Christine Ehlers

Unsere Trainerin Christine EhlersChristine Ehlers has worked a PR manager for a Cultural and Creative Industries Association before becoming self-employed at her own company werterleben. She offers strategic communications consulting, mediation and coaching.

She studied ethnology, law and psychology attaining a master’s degree in Hamburg. There, she also attended lectures by Friedemann Schulz von Thun. Today, Christine Ehlers lives in Berlin and works with clients throughout the entire German‑speaking region.

Miriam von Maydell

Unsere Trainerin Miriam von Maydell

Since 2012, Miriam von Maydell has headed the editorial and production departments at Verlag Barbara Budrich. Before she joined Budrich in 2010, she worked for four years in Berlin as a freelance academic editor and translator. Even as a student and research assistant, Miriam von Maydell took on the editorial supervision of academic publications and, together with Judith Henning and Petra Reiners, ran an academic editing service from 2007 to 2010. She studied German and English with a focus on Gender Studies and Postcolonial Studies at the universities of Bonn, Potsdam and Lancaster.

 

Cathrin Mund

Cathrin started coordinating budrich training in November 2021.

Among other subjects, she studied linguistics, cultural studies and sociology at the universities of Kiel, Gothenburg and Bayreuth, and worked as a research assistant and in the book industry. In addition to budrich training, she is responsible for international marketing and sales at Verlag Barbara Budrich. As a lecturer, she also teaches part-time at the University of Bayreuth. She is co-editor of the German student-run journal Soziologiemagazin and deputy chair of soziologiemagazin e.V.
